Necklace For a Party

Green and Orange Necklace

Blue and Red Necklace

B & R Necklace Today

Do you ever wish you had a certain color necklace for an outfit? Well, I had one of those moments over the weekend and decided to make my own necklace. I ended up wearing the "blue and red" necklace with yellow skinny jeans and navy blue t-shirt. It was expressive and perfect for the party.

Digging into Splendid Sunday

Visiting Jeni's Ice Cream is one of my thrills whenever I visit Chagrin Falls, Ohio. I got Mock Turtle Sunday topped with Ugandan Vanilla w/ fudge, and garnished with caramel & pecans w/hand whipped cream and amarena cherry. Doesn't that make your mouth water just reading about it? I hope weekend finds you a sweet treat.

Hot and muggy outside in Los Angeles today. Looking at these photos cools the day. Wish I could grab some snow to cool my sunburned neck.

Embracing and realizing we have no control over someone else and external factors is a big step in the right direction.

You can kick and scream all you want, but the decision to cooperate comes from within and cannot be forced.

This doesn’t mean you give up on doing the right thing, or stop working together with others towards a common goal.  You still have the ability to choose the responsible and respectful decisions and actions.

Thanks Jason I really needed that today.

Korean Pancake Anyone?

Chopped leek, red bell pepper, hot pepper, and zucchini

Chopped leek, red bell pepper, hot pepper, and zucchini mixed with flour and water
Korean pancake (pa jun)
This is one of my favorite foods of all time. Here's the recipe. Try it out and let me know what you think. Enjoy!

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 bunch of  leek or green onion
  • Half zucchini
  • half red bell pepper
  • 2 hot pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Oil for cooking

Preparation:

  1. Mix all ingredients together and let sit for about 10 minutes. Check consistency before cooking – batter should be a little bit runnier than American pancake batter, so that the Pa Jun cooks quickly and evenly.
  2. Heat a saute pan over medium heat and coat with a thin layer of oil.
  3. Pour batter to fill pan in a thin layer (about 1/3 of your batter should fill a regular saute pan).
  4. Cook for 3-4 minutes until set and golden brown on bottom.
  5. Turn over with help of spatula or plate (or flip it in the air if you are good at that) and finish by cooking 1-2 more minutes, adding more oil if necessary.
  6. Serve with soy sauce with sesame seeds

Here and Now

I was reminded today how fleeting and temporary life is. I received sad news about my friend's mom's passing. It made me think of the time when I lost my mom.  I remembered being so caught up in life I forgot to spend time with mom during the months leading up to her passing.  I would love to re-do and spend ample with her but I can’t.  But I also realize there’s no point in focusing on the regrets. Instead I can treasure the moments I shared with her.

Birthday at Joe's

Happy Birthday Bill!  A party never materialized, as I never got around to planning it and Bill never got around to wanting it. We've both been in a preoccupied kind of groove. And time, it flies. So instead I made him a chalkboard birthday party. This is what he woke up to. And at night we had a little party just the two of us at Joe's, including a full bottle of wine and chocolate crunch cake dessert just as big!

Look ahead one step at a time

I'm standing at crossroads in my career path. I've been planning my transition out of the current job to start something of my own. I have doubts, I worry about the unknowns. Yesterday was an especially trying day. Tired, decompressing late at the end of the day, a TV show gave me a helpful reminder: "You can get anywhere you want... one footstep at a time". Thanks TV. Now I pass "one step at a time" onto you.

Easter Evening

A little reminder for the day, "Wake up!"
A little reminder for the day, "forgive".
A little reminder for the day, "be still, look, listen, be present"

Here goes my first post. Inspired by everyday mantras I repeat to myself and for the love of design. I remind myself to step back when looking at a situation. My prints are on display throughout my house to remind me, to help keep me in this frame of mind. I've included featured links from my Etsy shop, Hello Maupoo and here are some of home photos of the prints.
