Height of Summer

Summer is in full swing. I can really feel the heat during the day. I love the days when I can pack a lunch for a beach picnic. This is a photo taken at the Santa Monica beach.

Below are summer totes I designed inspired by colorful sun umbrellas and bright blue sky. I love using them for summer outings. They are available at Hello Maupoo.

It's finally done...or at least in California. Hopefully this will start a chain reaction of marriage equality throughout the country. At last everyone has a chance to marry, as it should be. Here is a design for you marking this historical day.

Wonderful Surprise at the Santa Monica Farmer's Market

I had a wonderful surprise last Sunday when I visited the Santa Monica Farmer's Market. There was a petting zoo full of goats and other farm animals! I stood and watched them interact with each other and with children. The petting zoo was cramped with too many children full of excitement, yet they seemed not to be fazed by it. They went about the day just like any other day, eating, resting, pooping, and eating some more.

I feel like there's some lesson there. It was so much fun watching them I lost track of time.

Free Printable June Calendar!

June is almost here. Here's a patterned calendar to mark the month. This one is all about variation within a uniform squared pattern. Looking at it from the photograph, it reminds me of my life - it's seemingly predictable with daily routines yet there are many complexities within. It's been 8 months since I left my job to pursue my own business of graphic design service and product designs and it hasn't been easy. I am still trying to figure out how to make this work. I realized so much has do with myself. This journey has pushed me to get to know myself better through getting to know my insecurities. I am learning to be more aware of them and not let them influence me so much.

If life ever feels dull, just look for the complexities within.

Ribbon Bracelet

I don't have heart to throw away ribbons that presents come wrapped in, especially fabric ribbons. I have a box full of scrap ribbons but this gray ribbon caught my eye. I love the fabric and the color, so I thought why not make something with it, specifically a bracelet. This is what I came up with. I think the orange thread adds a little something to the bracelet, what do you think?
